About our Pastor and Staff

Pastor Dominic Sunukjian
(Senior Pastor)

Pastor Dominic grew up locally and in the spring of 1991, at the age of 22, while in Virginia with a friend, accepted Jesus as his savior.  He attended Calvary Chapel of Albany where he came on board in a staff position for several years before starting his own business.  In 1994 he started a maintenance/construction company that focused on servicing local businesses and shopping mall remodeling. He continued to serve at his church (which later became Reach Out Fellowship) in various ministry positions over the years as the Lord gave opportunity: Assistant Head Usher, Head Usher, head of the Food Pantry, serving communion to shut-ins, Assistant Worship Team Leader, Youth Worship Leader, head of the Young Adult Fellowship, head of the Altar Team, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Institute Instructor, and through his business, the overseer of the church building maintenance and operations.
In 2001 his company had 9 employees and serviced over 100 major stores from Newburgh to Glens Falls. Recently married and with a burgeoning company he began to seek the Lord’s direction for his life and business.  On a Friday night while at his computer he received an answer; God was calling him to be a pastor.   God clearly gave him a vision and direction.  On Sunday night he shared with his family that he felt God had been calling him and his wife Jen to leave the fellowship where he had served for 8 years.  On Tuesday of that week he met with the senior and associate pastor and shared the vision.  They concurred and brought ordination before the Board of Elders which unanimously agreed to ordain Pastor Dominic; Trinity Worship Christian Fellowship was born.  The following Wednesday he led his first bible study as a pastor, and Trinity Worship has met every week since.  Just 10 days earlier he had been considering bringing on a foreman so that he might free up his time to expand his business and pursuing more real estate interests however  the Lord had a different plan for his life.  He was able to sell his business and continue to invest in real estate in order to support his family during the transition.
He currently serves full-time as Senior Pastor and has four children, Mary, Sophia, Samuel and Rebekah.  His wife Jen works part-time and serves as the church office manager.  When asked about his preparation and training Pastor Dominic says, “I never planned on full-time ministry.  Everything I did at my last church I did because I loved the Lord.  Those many years of service gave me the opportunity to be mentored by my pastor and to serve the Lord by serving him.  I learned submission and had a great many opportunities to see God work first-hand.  I thank God that he led me to a home church where the pastor had the foresight to record all of his verse-by-verse teachings from Genesis to Revelation.  After 5 solid years of listening to hundreds of tapes, after 8 years of service, and through many challenges God brought me to a place where I could be used. To God be the glory.”

Brian Helf
(Elder)

Brian Helf grew up and has lived in the Albany area his entire life. He is happily married to his wife Jolee since 1994 and they have a son, Casey, and a daughter, Abigail. He is the president and CEO of Stone Management, Inc., a warehouse and distribution operation in Watervliet.

He grew up in the Catholic Church during his childhood, but felt there was more to faith than what he had experienced to that point in his life. In 1992, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and became born again. He attended Calvary Chapel (Reachout Fellowship) for 8 years where he served as Sunday School teacher, Bible Institute Instructor, Assistant Head Usher, and Head Usher. Upon Pastor Dominic’s ordination, Brian accepted the Lord’s call as an Elder at Trinity Worship.

Brian and Jolee currently serve as a Key Couple in the Albany area for the Growing Kids God’s Way parenting ministry and have served in the ministry since 2002. He is the Director of Youth Ministries at Trinity Worship and his vision for the children’s and youth ministries is to be one of the largest gospel centered kid’s clubs in the Albany area.

James Duke
(Elder)

Jim Duke has lived in the Colonie area most of his life. He had a curiosity in philosophies and world religions and at one time studied aspects of the occult. He was saved on Easter of 1993 after  a conflict with the Christian faith and questioning its pagan association during the Easter celebration. He asked one too many questions, which instead led him to the truth of the cross and he immediately believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior that morning.

For the next eight years or so he attended Calvary Chapel of Albany (now Reach Out Fellowship), where he learned the discipline of doctrine under the Pastor. He served on the worship team playing bass guitar and taught in the Bible Institute of Albany NY at Calvary Chapel. Jim spends time writing and studying social issues as related to the Bible and has started teaching ministries on local TV and in print. Currently he is editor of his online magazine. He accepted the Lord's calling of Elder at Trinity Worship upon Pastor Dom's request and the elder's ordination and is also Director of Outreach ministries.

Jim and his wife Stacie currently serve on the worship team at Trinity Worship. They have been married since 1989 and have two sons, Jimmy (Jr.) and Ryan.
